Ōpōtiki faces ongoing challenges due to limited financial resources. To uplift our community and create real opportunities for rangatahi, we urgently need more funding directed to our rohe. With greater investment, we can develop programs that empower youth, build skills, and create lasting positive change.

Short-term funding is not enough to create lasting impact. Sustainable funding and regular donations are essential so we can plan long-term projects that truly support rangatahi and whānau. Consistent resources allow us to grow, adapt, and respond effectively to the evolving needs of our community.

We want to build strong partnerships with bigger philanthropic organisations who share our vision. Their support can unlock vital resources and expertise, enabling us to amplify our efforts and reach more rangatahi. Together, we can create a stronger, more resilient Ōpōtiki.

Ōpōtiki often misses out on funding because of postcode bias and systemic inequities. Raising awareness of this issue is critical to ensure our community receives fair access to resources. Addressing postcode inequity means empowering Ōpōtiki to thrive on equal footing with larger centres.

By building a bigger pool of funds, we can support not only our own kaupapa but also smaller roopu working hard across different areas. Collaboration and shared resources strengthen everyone’s mahi and create better pathways for rangatahi growth — because when one of us thrives, we all thrive.

Our rangatahi carry the hopes and dreams of their tīpuna, but to turn those dreams into reality, they need access to a wide range of programmes — from cultural learning and skills development to leadership and wellbeing. Funding is essential to create these opportunities so our youth can honour their whakapapa and build strong, thriving futures.
